What is the GED Certification Exam?
The General Educational Development (GED) exam is a comprehensive test designed to assess whether an individual has the academic skills equivalent to a high school education. Administered by GED Testing Service, this certification is widely recognized and opens doors to employment opportunities and higher education. The GED is ideal for those who did not complete high school but wish to demonstrate their knowledge in core subject areas.
The exam is divided into four subject tests: Mathematical Reasoning, Reasoning Through Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. Each test evaluates your understanding of high school-level material and your ability to apply knowledge in practical and problem-solving contexts.
To earn your GED, you must pass all four subject tests, which can be taken individually or in combination. The test is available year-round, and candidates can choose to take it in-person at a testing center or online from the comfort of their home.
